Sun Hung Kai Properties (SHKP) has been active in promoting environmental protection and healthy living in the community. It is supporting the Ngong Ping Charity Walk in 2009 for the third year running, to encourage wholesome living. The walk will be on January 11, 2009 along the Ngong Ping Trail on Lantau. The annual event provides an opportunity for hikers from around the world to experience the calming nature in Ngong Ping.

The walk is being organized by the Hong Kong Youth Hostels Association and Ngong Ping 360. Organizing committee chairman Terry Liu said: "The Ngong Ping Charity Walk aims to raise funds for promoting environmental awareness and wholesome living among young people. It is being held for the third consecutive year and is the only one on the beautiful Ngong Ping Trail."

He continued: "Hostelling International will celebrate its centenary in 2009. We hope to make the charity walk an international event in a year that means so much for the association. We are calling on related organizations worldwide to help promote the event in different countries and recruit hikers to join."

This year's ambassadors include actors Alex Fong, Tong So-kei, Chelsea and traveller Chung Kin-man. Mr Fong said: "I am happy to be an ambassador for the walk for three years running. This is a worthwhile event for the environment and healthy living. I hope people will come and join us."
