SHKP wins Hong Kong Enterprise Environmental Achievement Award

29/12/08

Sun Hung Kai Properties (SHKP) has won a 2008 Hong Kong Enterprise Environmental Achievement award. The developer adheres to strict environmental standards and incorporates green elements in its property projects. It also supports green activities and encourages it staff, business associates and the public to work for the environment. The latest award is one more in a string of accolades SHKP has won for its work to protect the environment.

Recognition for sustainable development

The Hong Kong Enterprise Environmental Achievement awards are presented by the non-profit Hong Kong Environmental Protection Association to recognize companies’ green achievements. The awards are meant to promote green awareness through education. The judges are local academics, environmentalists and business professionals, who evaluate companies on their environmental performance. Environmental protection is part of SHKP's commitment to the community. The developer has comprehensive environmental policies and sets new green building standards, while also promoting environmental awareness and green living among residents and tenants.

Green building standards

SHKP respects the environment and has policies for the use of green technology and property designs. Many SHKP developments have Hong Kong Building Environmental Assessment Method (HK-BEAM) certification for meeting environmental standards. International Commerce Centre is one, with a provisional platinum HK-BEAM ranking. Kowloon Commerce Centre is the first Hong Kong commercial building to win Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification for the successful integration of green elements and property development.
