Sun Hung Kai Properties (SHKP) has won a fifth consecutive Eco-Business award.  Its outstanding green strategy and long-standing commitment to green development earned it a platinum honour.  SHKP is dedicated to producing quality projects and incorporates sustainability principles in every aspect of its business.

The awards were given out by MetroBox magazine.  The judges were a panel of environmentalists, representatives of various chambers of commerce and academics, and they evaluated candidates on green strategy, implementation and performance, leadership, and innovation.  SHKP won an Eco-Business Award for the fifth year running and a Platinum Award for its leading role in green development.

SHKP was the first property developer in Hong Kong to practise green construction and management; including environmental considerations in all aspects from planning and design to material sourcing, construction, landscaping and property management.  It adheres to international green standards and has earned widespread recognition.  International Commerce Centre attained a BEAM  platinum certificate and Kowloon Commerce Centre was the first Hong Kong commercial development to get LEED gold certification from the US Green Building Council.

SHKP practises green management through its property management subsidiaries Hong Yip and Kai Shing, and takes part environmental events.  It supported the global Earth Hour again this year with over 200 developments taking part, giving it one of the highest participation rates among developers.  It also sponsored the Friends of the Earth’s Power Smart campaign to show concern about climate change.
