Sun Hung Kai Properties (SHKP) is committed to sustainable development and green management.  It took part in the Take a Brake – Corporate Green Driving award scheme for a third time, with green driving workshops and putting theory into practice to reduce carbon emissions.  SHKP vehicles significantly reduced fuel consumption and won a gold award.

Take a Brake Low Carbon Action was organized by the Friends of the Earth (HK), Green Power and WWF-Hong Kong.  SHKP vehicles used 532 fewer litres of fuel during September and October 2012, which is equivalent to 1,383 fewer kilograms of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions.  SHKP won gold for reducing fuel consumption by 11.9% and silver for improving fuel efficiency by 4%.

SHKP places great emphasis on eco-friendly management and environmental awareness among staff.  Green driving workshops gave tips on saving fuel and reducing CO2 emissions, through steps like car pooling, route planning, checking traffic and avoiding excessive speed.  Regular maintenance such as checking tyre pressure and changing oil and air filters keeps cars operating efficiently, and turning engines off while waiting reduces pollution and saves fuel.
