SHKP's Kowloon Commerce Centre again wins LEED certification

10/04/12

Tower Two of Kowloon Commerce Centre (KCC) developed by Sun Hung Kai Properties (SHKP) has received LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) gold pre-certification from the US Green Building Council. Tower One of KCC attained full LEED gold certification recently for its eco-friendly achievements. SHKP believes in Building Homes with Heart and incorporates green principles in all facets of property development.

KCC is in a prime location in the West Kowloon transportation hub and it provides a footbridge to let people walk to Kwai Hing MTR station in just two minutes. By encouraging tenants and locals to use public transport, it helps reduce fuel consumption and carbon emissions of private vehicles. Its extensive low-e glass walls maximize natural daylight and effectively reduce heat absorption to save energy consumption for lights and air-conditioning. Its central air conditioning, lifts and other electrical installations meet international energy-efficiency guidelines.

SHKP follows strict green guidelines, which has earned it three LEED-certified and 14 HK BEAM (Hong Kong Building Environmental Assessment Method)-certified projects to date.  Tower One of KCC was the first office development to achieve LEED gold pre-certification in Hong Kong in 2009 and it attained full LEED gold certification after completion early this year, which proved the Group’s excellence in fusing environmental concepts in development.

SHKP is dedicated to quality and was the first developer in Hong Kong to practise green construction and management. It aims for sustainable development with planning, design, material sourcing, construction and landscaping.  It also extends the SHKP G Power green initiatives to the vast property portfolio it administers, with environmental activities to encourage people to be eco-friendly and make the Earth a better place for everyone.
