Sun Hung Kai Properties (SHKP) has again won gold in the Take a Brake – Corporate Green Driving awards given by the Friends of the Earth (HK), Green Power and WWF-Hong Kong for significantly enhancing fuel efficiency and reducing consumption by its motor pool.  SHKP is committed to sustainable development and green management, and encourages eco-friendly driving by staff to reduce carbon emissions.

SHKP vehicles used 214 fewer litres of fuel during September and October 2011, which is equivalent to 588 fewer kilograms of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions.  SHKP won gold both for improving fuel efficiency by more than 12% and for reducing fuel consumption by 11%.

SHKP places great emphasis on eco-friendly management and environmental awareness among staff.  It held a green workshop to promote green driving with tips to save fuel and reduce CO2 emissions, and car pooling is encouraged among staff.  Drivers are instructed to plan in advance and check traffic conditions for the best route, and to avoid excessive speed.  Regular maintenance like checking tyre pressure and changing oil and air filters helps keep engines operating efficiently, reduces pollution and saves fuel.
