SHKP wins ten-plus Best Landscape awards Peak One gets gold for greenery

31/05/10

Sun Hung Kai Properties (SHKP) won more than ten 2010 Best Landscape awards given out by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department and other government and professional organizations, making it the biggest winner among developers. Five SHKP residential and commercial projects won gold, and Peak One was acclaimed for its one-of-a-kind lush greenery and exceptional vertical garden – the largest in a Hong Kong residential development.

The Leisure and Cultural Services Department presents the biennial awards in conjunction with the Home Affairs Department, Hong Kong Institute of Architects, Hong Kong Institute of Landscape Architects, Institute of Horticulture, Hong Kong Institute of Surveyors, Professional Green Building Council and Hong Kong Association of Property Management Companies. The awards recognize outstanding landscape design and horticultural maintenance, and enhance green awareness among the public. The judges considered candidates on factors including the appearance of green features, sustainability, enhancement to urban livability and involvement of users, in a stringent assessment.

Peak One green design blends with nature

SHKP planned a green living space in its gold winner Peak One from the very beginning, having it seamlessly merge with the natural surroundings. The developer included a spacious, 180,000-square-foot Garden on the Peak integrating every unit with the exquisite green aesthetics and fresh ambiance of this impressive oasis. The garden has over a 100 carefully-selected plant species, some of which are new to Hong Kong.

Hong Kong’s largest vertical garden

Peak One incorporates advanced vertical greening and innovative aesthetics. The Sculpture Garden is 350 feet wide and covers 12,000 square feet, making it the largest in a Hong Kong residential development. There is also an exclusive Maestro Garden of 20,000 square feet featuring seasonal plant varieties that differ in colour during the year to showcase the changes of the seasons and let residents enjoy a private space full of blooms not often seen in the city.

Designated landscape team

SHKP strives to protect the environment by including green elements in all areas of property development. It has dedicated teams to take care of landscape design and maintenance, and landscape designers are involved early in the planning of new developments to ensure that the green space fits well with the project. Special attention is paid to maintenance after owners take possession, and the property management teams take the initiative to upgrade landscaping constantly to enhance the living environments.

Awards for commercial and residential projects

Gold winners in landscape design include Peak One, Woodland Crest and Scenic Heights, and BeneVille won gold for maintenance. SHKP’s Kowloon Commerce Centre won gold for landscape design in the commercial sector. New Town Plaza phase one got an honourable mention for design and maintenance.
