Valais clubhouses win HKIA Merit Award

13/05/11

Sun Hung Kai Properties' prestigious Valais residential development has won a Merit Award from the Hong Kong Institute of Architects for exceptional quality and well-planned clubhouse landscaping that creates a sense of spaciousness and unity with nature.

The Institute has been giving 'Merit Awards for Hong Kong Residential Buildings' and 'Special Architectural Awards' since 1965 to recognize outstanding architecture. The Valais clubhouses received a Hong Kong Residential Building Merit Award this year for creating a tranquil, harmonious environment with exceptional planning, design and materials. The clubhouses were carefully planned to use light, reflections, materials and green space to welcome broad sunlight and green views of the development's tranquil garden setting, and the judges praised them as an inspiration for other clubhouses in Hong Kong.

Sun Hung Kai Properties Executive Director Mike Wong said: "Valais is one of our major recent developments following our tradition of top quality, in a prestigious location by Beas River. The design of the clubhouses demonstrates respect for the environment, and well-proportioned contours and landscaping blend the private recreational and leisure space in harmony with the surroundings."
