SHKP publishes 2017/18 Sustainability Report

Sun Hung Kai Properties Limited (SHKP) issued its 2017/18 Sustainability Report today covering the Group's achievements along with other initiatives on sustainable development for the fiscal year ending 30 June 2018. 

In keeping with the spirit of Building Homes with Heart, SHKP is committed to creating long-term value for its stakeholders and collaborates with them regularly to develop Hong Kong's sustainability agenda. The Group also increasingly leverages technological innovations and digital applications to provide the greatest value for our customers, the community and for environmental protection purposes. 

SHKP's sustainability achievements in the fiscal year 2017/18 include:

Innovative products and services
  • Launched the SHKP Malls App, an integrated, multi-functional mobile app. To date, it has been downloaded more than 220,000 times. 
  • Applied NB-IoT (Narrowband Internet-of-Things) technology as a smart property management solution at the International Commerce Centre.
  • SHKP's property management subsidiaries introduced two proprietary apps, Live e-asy and SoProp, to provide more efficient services for residents.
Environmentally sustainable business operations
  • Launched Hong Kong's first free countryside and beach clean-up mobile app, Nature Rescue, with Green Power.
  • Won the 10th Anniversary Special Awards at the 2017 Hong Kong Awards for Environmental Excellence and a host of other honours in the property management business sector.
  • Curbed electricity consumption in investment property portfolio by more than 16% over the past seven years.
Community-care initiatives
  • Sponsored INDEX, a sharing and co-working space in Kwun Tong in support of startups, technological innovation and youth development.
  • SHKP Volunteer Team contributed about 1.1 million service hours over the past 15 years,  benefitting close to 500,000 people.
  • Attracted a record number of runners (over 1,900) from 35 nations and regions who participated in the sixth SHKP Vertical Run for Charity – Race to Hong Kong ICC. 
Employer of choice- aspirational strategy
  • Named  'Top 10 Employer' in the jobsDB's 'Top 10 Companies Survey 2017' for the second year in a row.
  • Continued to provide 24-hour counselling and emotional support to expand the overall care of staff's holistic health and well-being.
Global and local leading sustainability indices recognition
  • Newly inducted  into London's  FTSE4Good Index series 
  • Continued to be included as a constituent member of the Hang Seng Corporate Sustainability Index with 'AA' rating
The SHKP 2017/18 Sustainability Report continues to adopt the 'core options' of the Global Reporting Initiative Sustainability Reporting Standards. This report was prepared in accordance with the revised Environmental, Social and Governance Reporting Guide set out in Appendix 27 of the Stock Exchange listing rules. This report also makes reference to the 10 principles of the United Nations Global Compact and has been independently verified by the British Standards Institution. 

According to the SHKP Sustainability Steering Committee, 'We pledge to continue joining hands with our stakeholders to develop Hong Kong, and work for the betterment of the society at large.'
