Over 200 SHKP developments join energy-saving Earth Hour

27/03/17

Care for the environment is integral to Sun Hung Kai Properties Limited (SHKP), so the developer has joined Earth Hour for a ninth year with over 200 of its residential estates, shopping malls, offices and industrial buildings across the city switching off lights for an hour.  SHKP remains dedicated to promoting healthy, sustainable living as part of its project planning and business operations, while taking action by supporting related community initiatives.

WWF’s Earth Hour encourages people to contribute to sustainable living by saving energy, and SHKP showed its commitment to sustainability by switching off lights in selected developments for an hour on 25 March; among them Hong Kong’s tallest building International Commerce Centre, Kowloon Commerce Centre (with the first Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) gold certification in Hong Kong), Sun Hung Kai Centre, MOKO, YOHO Mall and Park Island.

SHKP believes in Building Homes with Heart and serving the community by developing premium building projects and supporting multiple initiatives to promote sustainable living.  Its Love Nature Campaign that began in 2011 raises environmental awareness in young people by combining learning with appreciation and outdoor exploration.  The Campaign has staged 26 clean-up actions that have collected over 22,000 kg of waste and recyclables so far.  It has additionally conducted more than 40 school visits and eco-tours exposing children to different aspects of nature and encouraging them to care about the environment.

See SHKP’s latest Sustainability Report at www.shkp.com for details of the company’s actions and events to promote sustainable development.
