International Commerce Centre (ICC) has become the first building in Hong Kong to receive ISO 50001 Energy Management Systems certification from the Hong Kong Quality Assessment Authority.  ICC has a comprehensive energy-management system for maximum efficiency, energy saving and carbon reduction, and the ISO certification shows its leadership in green management.  ICC was developed by Sun Hung Kai Properties and is managed by Kai Shing Management Services.

Energy optimizer

ICC is a 118-storey complex containing grade-A offices and a top hotel above a high-end shopping mall.  It features energy-consumption monitors and a custom energy-regulating system to analyse data on the building’s energy distribution and consumption patterns.  Building management also formulated a set of policies taking into account the building design to improve energy efficiency.  These have enabled ICC to reduce energy consumption in the offices and hotel, as well as reducing carbon emissions, earning it ISO 50001 certification.

ICC has other recognition for its green building specifications; having been given the top ‘platinum’ HK-BEAM ranking (Building Environmental Assessment Method) in June.

Ongoing facility reviews by professional team

ICC has over 50 advanced energy-saving facilities including LED illuminations and CO2 detectors throughout the building to monitor air quality.

The ICC property management teams receive training on planning, implementation, monitoring and improvement as specified by ISO 50001 standard practice to ensure that the green measures and facilities are effective.  The teams also analyse energy consumption reports regularly to make further advances in energy saving and carbon reduction.
