Nearly 180 SHKP developments join Earth Hour

21/03/16

Sun Hung Kai Properties Limited (SHKP) takes environmental considerations into account in its daily business operations and supports green initiatives in the community as part of its continuous promotion of healthy, sustainable living.  The company recently joined global Earth Hour for an eighth straight year by having nearly 180 commercial and industrial buildings, shopping malls and residential estates it manages in the territory switch off lights for an hour.

The WWF Earth Hour encourages people to contribute to a sustainable environment by saving energy.  SHKP showed its commitment to sustainable development by having almost 180 commercial and industrial buildings, shopping malls and residential estates managed by its subsidiaries Hong Yip and Kai Shing switch off lights for an hour on the night of 19 March.  Developments taking part included Hong Kong’s tallest building International Commerce Centre as well as Kowloon Commerce Centre, which received the first Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) gold certification in Hong Kong.  Sun Hung Kai Centre, APM and YOHO Mall were also among the principal SHKP developments that rallied behind the Earth Hour cause.

In keeping with its belief in Building Homes with Heart to serve the community, SHKP develops premium properties and engages in multiple initiatives to promote sustainable living.  Its Love Nature Campaign that began in 2011 combines elements of learning with appreciation and outdoor exploration.  The campaign has organized 20 clean-ups collecting over 17,000 kg of waste and recyclables, along with conducting nearly 40 school visits and eco-tours encouraging children to care about nature.
