SHKP developments scoop ten environmental excellence accolades
ICC wins a gold award for exceptional property management

13/05/14

Promoting a greener future is an integral part of Sun Hung Kai Properties Limited’s (SHKP) corporate philosophy.  Its property management subsidiaries Kai Shing and Hong Yip have vast experience in practicing creative eco-friendly principles in their daily operations and have earned multiple awards at the Hong Kong Awards for Environmental Excellence – including a gold award (property management) for International Commerce Centre (ICC) – which adds up to a record of five golds for SHKP developments in these honours.

The awards are now in their sixth year and are presented by 11 organizations including the Environmental Campaign Committee, Environmental Protection Department, Advisory Council on the Environment and Business Environmental Council, to encourage businesses and organizations to adopt green management and innovation.  Comprehensive assessments were carried out by a panel of judges based on environmental leadership, partnership, planning and achievement.

SHKP, with its reputation for pre-eminent green management, won a total of ten honours in the property management sector of the awards this year.  ICC scored a gold award, following in the footsteps of former winners Park Island, Millennium City, Metroplaza and Grand Century Place.  Grand Central Plaza, Landmark North, Millennium City 5, East Point City shopping centre, Aegean Coast, Manhattan Hill, Noble Hill, Park Central (residential) and Wonderland Villas won certificates of merit, attesting to SHKP’s property management achievements.

SHKP puts its Building Homes with Heart philosophy into practice by producing the finest developments and publishing an independent sustainability report according to the latest G4 guidelines from the Global Reporting Initiative, making it the first Hong Kong developer to follow this international standard.  The report covers its economic, environmental and social sustainability performance.  Green efforts in project planning and development have earned BEAM (Building Environmental Assessment Method) or LEED (Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design) certifications for 25 of its developments in Hong Kong or on the mainland.  SHKP has also been a constituent stock in the Hang Seng Corporate Sustainability Index since 2010, in recognition of its excellence in sustainability, environmental protection, social concern and corporate governance.
