Sun Hung Kai Properties (SHKP) cares about the environment and stages energy-saving initiatives in its property portfolio under the SHKP G Power banner.  SHKP again entered nearly 400 developments including malls, offices and residences managed by its subsidiaries Hong Yip and Kai Shing in a territory-wide energy saving contest this year.  Hong Yip saved a total of 4.78 million kWh of electricity in just three months and won the Biggest Unit Saver Award (Property Management). 

SHKP goes to great lengths to reduce carbon emissions with energy-saving measures in properties administered by Hong Yip and Kai Shing, such as installing water-cooled air conditioning systems with frequency converters, optimizing lift drives, water pump inverters and power-saving lighting.

The developer supported the Friends of the Earth’s Power Smart Contest for years.  There were 4,737 entries in the household, company and property management categories, including nearly 2,600 developments managed by 567 management companies.  The contest produced a record 50-million-plus kWh reduction of electricity consumption – 71 per cent more than last year.
