Sun Hung Kai Properties (SHKP) won 21 honours in the 2012 Best Landscape Awards, including four golds for residential and commercial projects.

The awards were given out by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department in collaboration with the Home Affairs Department, the Hong Kong Institute of Architects, Institute of Landscape Architects, Institute of Horticulture (Hong Kong), Institute of Surveyors, Professional Green Building Council and the Hong Kong Association of Property Management Companies.  The biennial awards recognize outstanding landscape design and horticultural maintenance based a stringent assessment of appearance, sustainability and involvement of users.

Honours for residential and commercial projects

The four gold winners were YOHO Midtown, Peak One, Avignon and New Town Plaza Phase One.  Other award-winning developments include Valais, The Vineyard, Park Central, Grand Century Place and International Commerce Centre.

Best Landscape Award gold winner YOHO Midtown was modeled on Tokyo Midtown, featuring a spacious garden landscaped in a painting theme with the blue of the swimming pool as the core to complement the natural surroundings.  Its 27,000-square-foot Midtown Park has an expansive lawn with colourful vegetation so residents can appreciate natural art.

Garden on The Peak offers green living

Peak One was designed to blend with the natural surroundings, with an 180,000-square-foot Garden on The Peak, which includes an exclusive 20,000-square-foot Maestro Garden featuring foliage that turns different colours with the changing seasons.  The 12,000-square-foot Sculpture Garden blends landscaping art and eco features to offer residents tranquil living in the city.

Designated landscape team

SHKP strives to protect the environment and has dedicated teams to take care of landscape design and maintenance.  Landscape designers are involved early in the planning of new developments to ensure that the green space fits well with the project.  Special attention is paid to maintenance after owners take possession and the property management teams take the initiative to upgrade landscaping constantly to enhance the living environment.
